History:
I see we are going to open the ''new" Zeigler Library early in 2002! What an achievement that is!! You know, or most of you do, that this is something I was really committed to while I was still with you. I've asked my daughter, Jane, to write this for me as I always did.} We all worked hard to buy the Old Depot and make it the future home of the library. And, I'm really proud of how much has been done since I left you. The effort! The creativity! Everyone deserves a huge pat on the back"!
I was involved in it all until I was nearly 91. Wanted to go to that Library Board meeting when it was all "signed, sealed and delivered" in January, 2000. But, I just couldn't. Barbara Corcoran gave me a full report", though. All this is a dream come true!
But, you may not know how long I was interested in libraries. I was even the school librarian for ZCHS when I was in high school! I was also the first Zeigler Librarian when the Woman's Club established a Library in 1926! In 1985 I got really involved again and served as President of the Library Board from then until 1995. To me reading was always fundamental, even before they had a program for it! It is my legacy to my home town that I know will benefit one and all!
