Wilkes-Barre Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course located in Bear Creek Township. WBGC enjoys the best of both worlds situated in close proximity to the Wyoming Valley as well as the beginning of the picturesque Pocono Mountains.
The golf club was established in 1967 and was designed by prominent golf course architect Geoffrey Cornish. The course is exceptionally well-groomed with a great practice facility. It includes a driving range, chipping and pitching green with a sand trap, and a very large putting green. WBGC is challenging for the expert player, with a length of 7,020 yards and a course rating of 72.9, yet is also enjoyable for the average and beginner player with a yardage of 6,312. On occasion Geoffrey Cornish would design holes with a common green. This is the case at WBGC where holes one and three share the same green. Legend has it that Geoffrey Cornish literally left his initials on the golf course; the seventeen tee is designed in the shape of the letter "C" and the eighteenth tee is designed in the shape of the letter "J." To learn more about the great golf course architect please visit his firm's website at www.mcgolfdesign.com.
Wilkes-Barre Golf Club features motorized golf carts and paved cart paths which allow you to enjoy the beautiful settings. Rest facilities are also available at several locations around the course. Eating facilities are also available with a halfway house for light snacks at the turn. Nine holes later, there is no better way to finish a great round of golf than enjoying a meal in the bar and grill room at Wilkes-Barre Golf Club.
We pay particular attention to our course and require that players use soft spike shoes on the course. WBGC is the home of the gentleman's and ladies game of golf and requires players to please take notice of our collared shirt requirement. Each player is also required to play from his or her own set of clubs.
