605 North Street
229-567-4027

History:

The Victoria Evans Memorial Library started out in the club room of the train depot in the 1920's by the Ashburn sewing club members. Library patrons paid ten cents per month to be a member.

In 1932 the library was moved to East College Avenue in a back room that was added to the Community House.

The library became part of the Coastal Plain Regional Library System when the system was founded in 1956. The Regional Headquarters are located in Tifton, Georgia.

Presently there are approximately 30,000 volumes housed in the library and approximately 20,000 people visit the library each year.

The elegantly appointed, well lighted facility invites those who use the library to stay and let the ambience surround them as they fill their minds with new and old thoughts generated by thousands of writers.
