About Tucker Free Library

The Tucker Free Library has proudly served the town of Henniker since the early 1900's. We are located in an architecturally beautiful building completed in 1903. This magnificent building is adorned with outstanding interior woodwork, furnishings, stenciling and historical items that are worthy of a visit in their own right.

The Library contains over 30,000 bound volumes and 2,400 audiovisual items. The lower level of the building houses our Children's Room (Beginning Readers—3rd Grade) and our Junior Room (4th-7th Grade). The recent development of a Young Adult Collection on the Main Floor bridges the gap for those readers ready to move on to more difficult materials but not ready for the subject matter of adult materials.

The Main Floor has a large display of new acquisitions, our adult fiction and non-fiction collections, a large audio book collection, local/state reference materials, and videos/DVDs of both an entertainment and educational nature. Two computers offer patrons access to the Internet and basic software applications. A scanner and copy machine are also available for patrons on the Main Floor.

The development of this website marks the culmination of efforts to bring Tucker Free Library into the 21st Century. Recognizing that technological enhancements are demanded by our community, we have worked to upgrade our circulation system to allow patrons to access the library from the comfort of their homes. Patrons can now check on the availability of an item, reserve that item, or renew materials checked out on their cards on their home computers.

Tucker Free Library is also a wireless environment, so bring your laptops or PDA’s to access the Internet using your own devices. By the end of 2006 we also hope to be on-line with a New Hampshire State Library initiative to offer downloadable audio books to our patrons. This program is being funded by the Friends of the Tucker Free Library.
