About Us:

The concept that became Marengo Ridge started in 1963 when Harry Witek, his two sons Bob and Jerry, partners Hillard Leward, and Al Bieze engaged architect William James Spear to design and build a nine-hole golf course cut through the wooded hills between U.S. Route 20 and Harmony Hill Rd. A large, working cow barn was renovated and became the center of the club activity. The first floor served as the pro shop, restaurant, and bar. The second floor was a large dining area where Friday fish fries, Saturday prime rib, and Sunday breakfast became popular attractions in the area. Many wonderful memories as well as friends remain from those days.

As the population and business grew, it became apparent that another nine holes was needed. After purchasing the farmland north of the course, construction began in 1988 and the new nine was opened in 1990. For two years operations were run out of the old clubhouse. However, the location on the south end of the golf course made the logistics complicated. It was obvious a new clubhouse was needed and in 1993 the current clubhouse opened.

The twenty five years between the construction of the two nines as well as the differences in topography created a unique contrast in design. Modern construction techniques created a challenging and picturesque nine holes from what was once farmland. Combined with the original nine cut through the trees, the current eighteen hole course is a golf experience not found at many courses.

Today Marengo Ridge is owned and operated by Bob and Janet Witek. Part of the original ownership group, Bob has dedicated his life to creating a great golf experience in a customer-friendly atmosphere. “Golf is a wonderful business. You get to work outside in beautiful surroundings and meet truly friendly people. Please come out and enjoy the experience. You won’t regret it.”
