A beautiful multi-use area on the banks of Lake Fort Smith, this is a scenic, well-maintained park in the Boston Mountain Valley of the Ozarks with camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. For backpackers, it is the western terminus of the 240-mile Ozark Highlands Trail. The park offers 30 campsites (20 Class AAA and 10 Class B), 10 cabins, a swimming pool, marina with boat rentals, pavilion, picnic sites, and group facilities including a dining hall and two group lodges with full-size kitchens. The visitor center houses a replica pioneer log cabin and covered wagon with exhibits and programs on the area’s early history. Park interpreters lead guests on nature hikes and lake tours year-round. (Swimming, water skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, and jet skiing, are not allowed on the lake.
Camping- Choose from 20 campsites with full hookups and 10 campsites with water & electric. Hot showers in a heated bathhouse provide yearround convenience. Two sites are barrier-free.
Cabins- Ten rental cabins include one-bedroom and two-bedroom designs featuring a private bathroom for each bedroom. Each cabin includes a great room with wood-burning fireplace, high definition satellite TV, kitchen and dining area. At the back of each cabin is a large, elevated covered deck. Group Lodging- Group facilities include a dining hall and two group lodges with kitchenettes. Featuring single beds, plus private rooms for counselors, each lodge can accommodate 28-32 persons.
Marina- Rent canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, fishing boats, and party barges. Purchase bait, tackle, vending, and other supplies. A double lane boat ramp is nearby.
Trails- A perfect way to enjoy the seasonal beauty of the Ozark Mountains is to hike the park’s trails. The park is the western terminus of the Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT), a trail offering hiking and backpacking as scenic and challenging as found anywhere in the country. This 165-mile trail passes through the heart of the Ozark Mountains.
Other Park Facilities- Enjoy the picnic sites, a pavilion, playground, swimming pool, and visitor center featuring interactive exhibits, a meeting/classroom, and gift shop.
