Mission Statement:
Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion is a catalyst at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and in the extended community to support interdisciplinary collaboration and the synthesis of knowledge for the benefit of current and future generations.

The museum is a cultural destination and a virtual presence that strives to enrich the human experience by inviting visitors to make connections through the visual arts between the past and present, between what is understood and what is unknown.

History:
Krannert Art Museum (KAM), located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, opened its doors in 1961, establishing a permanent home for the University's collection of fine art.

Significant support from donors and museum members have enabled KAM to develop its collection and become both a premier art destination in Illinois and a leader among university art museums nationwide.

KAM serves a varied audience, including the faculty, staff and students of the University of Illinois, the Urbana and Champaign communities, and the people of Central Illinois. Partnerships with schools, community groups, University departments and individuals allow the museum staff to develop programs that serve, engage and involve this broad audience of over 132,000 visitors annually.

A significant portion of the museum's permanent collection of over 10,000 works of art is displayed in ten galleries, ranging from ancient Egyptian and Pre-columbian to contemporary art. In addition, the museum presents 12-15 changing exhibitions each year, bringing works of art from nationally and internationally notable museums and collections to the local community.
