About Homestead Branch Library:
The Homestead Branch Library is located on U.S. 1 next to Homestead City Hall and across the street from Harris Field. The Library opened on October 3, 1980, was closed after Hurricane Andrew and reopened on February 18, 1994. This 16,000 square-foot branch has a collection of over 87,000 volumes and serves a multicultural community. Special holdings include the Florida collection, large print materials, Spanish books, videos and audio books. In addition, the Library has online public catalogs, full text newspaper and magazine articles and worldwide information resources. It also has a large beautiful children's department where programs are developed for children from preschool through the 8th grade. Homestead Branch Library is the southernmost branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System.
