Hennepin County Library - Linden Hills Branch

2900 West 43rd Street
952-847-2825

About Us :

Often described as the ideal image of a library, Linden Hills has everything library users love. Window seats under leaded glass panes that invite sunshine in, cozy lounge chairs in the magazine area, outdoor reading terraces, two historic fireplaces--all this and more add to the charm of the lovely brick building that was thoroughly renovated in 2002.
Now state-of-the-art computer workstations blend in side-by-side with restored wooden book shelves and vintage furniture.
The two-story lobby, with an elevator added for accessibility, invites people of all ages to come in and enjoy.

History:

The charming Linden Hills Library serves residents of Southwest Minneapolis and nearby Edina. It was built in 1931 under the direction of nationally known library director Gratia Countryman, who was instrumental in expanding the city’s library system in 1904-36. The library has received historic designation from the City of Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Prior to 1931, the community was served by deposit collections at 2900 and 2720 West 43rd Street.
