Fort Loudon Community Library

210 Mullen Street
717-369-4704

The Fort Loudon Railroad Station was built after the railroad was brought into the area around 1871. It now serves the community as a Library.

The library initially was housed in the local Lutheran Church. The first librarian was Mrs. Anna Rotz. Mrs. Linda Best also took a turn at managing the library. Although the initial accommodations were drab, the concept and determination to have a library in the area did not diminish. The opportunity to rent part of the railroad station was accepted by the Library Board Members. Eventually the baton was handed off to Mrs. Gail Sacho. Gail along with other concerned citizens has worked tirelessly to keep the initial vision of having a library for Ft. Loudon and surrounding areas alive. The hard work and sacrifice has finally started to pay off. Remodeling efforts, new computers and expanded collections of adult and children books has helped to improve community response and interaction.
