Forest Lodge Library

About The Library:

This unique library is housed in a historic log-cabin in the heart of Northern Wisconsin. Patrons have access to all the amenities of a new facility: fully automated circulation and interlibrary loan system; high-speed access to the Internet and web-based email accounts; children's reading and activity area; and collections for all age and interest groups. We're located on Highway "M" adjacent to the Cable Natural History Museum.

History:

Forest Lodge Library was founded in 1925 by Mary Livingston Griggs in memory of her mother, Mary Steele Livingston, as a gift to the Cable, WI community. It has been in the same building and location since its founding, and is now the oldest log-cabin library in Wisconsin. In its early years, it also served as a meeting place for community groups. Much of the original library fixtures remain in use today, including shelving from split-logs, a large reading table, and the librarian's circulation desk. A beautiful stone fireplace creates a visual focal point as one enters the library.
