Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library

In 1880's Marshfield Public Library has been an integral part of the community. In 1901, the library secured its first permanent home on Maple Street in the southeast wing of the then newly constructed City Hall. The original portion of the present building was opened in 1960 with the help of a generous donation from Amander Beebee. In 1985 the current facility was expanded to twice its original size.

The Marshfield Public Library began automated library service with an online catalog and check-out system in August 1991. In October of that same year, the library celebrated being named Wisconsin's library of the year.

The library's collection contains over 160,000 books, magazines, pamphlets, compact discs, audio cassettes, art works, CD Rom's, videocassettes & DVD's. Specialized collections including Literacy, Genealogy and Spanish language materials are available for use. The library also offers Internet access and word processing. Marshfield Public Library's collection is supplemented by an additional 1.75 million library holdings from other members in the South Central Library System, including Madison Public Library.
