1733,THE DURHAM BOOK COMPANY was Found.Its founders aspire to "improve our leisure hours and enrich our minds".

1902,The land, the generous donation of Mrs. G. Rockwood, who stipulated that a building costing not less than $3,000 be built, remains as the current site.

1985,a vital addition is achieved to secure a prestigious reputation for serving dedicated patrons.

1997,doubled in physical size, greatly expanded in technological and telecommunications capabilities.

Today,proud to be the cultural and informational center for DURHAM citizens of all ages.
