Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library is to inform, educate and entertain through a variety of formats with the purpose of strengthening our community. To deliver on this promise, we rely on four great resources – our staff, our collections, our space and our set of core values.

The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library is a valuable resource for the residents of Mercedes and Hidalgo County. We offer a variety of resources from children’s books to online magazines. The children’s department has monthly activities for children to enjoy. Adult programming such as UCAS Health and Beauty classes is also available. We have dedicated collection areas for children’s material, young adult, reference, Spanish, large print, biographies, and so much more.
