About Us:

Nestled among the adobe hills at the southern base of the majestic Grand Mesa lies Devil’s Thumb Golf Club.  The course is named for the rock formation that looms above it.  “The Thumb” stands alone as a sentinel watching over the Grand Mesa, the Uncompahgre Plateau, the confluence of the Uncompahgre and Gunnison Rivers and the small western town of Delta.  Off in the distance, one can see the Raggeds and West Elk Mountains to the east, and the San Juan Mountains to the south.

Designer, Rick Phelps, described this challenging 18-hole course as a “prairie style” Delta golf course.  Opened in 2001, it has five sets of tees that make the course playable to every type of golfer.  Many holes offer different options, split fairways and well placed bunkers make it an interesting combination that seems to change the course each time you play. You’ll pause for a moment while antelope cross the fairway and you know in that instant that you’ll want to return again and again.

Located in the foothills of north of Delta, Colorado Devil’s Thumb Golf Club offers a unique blend of characteristics. The style is described by architect Rick Phelps as a “prairie style” course.

Just a scenic forty-mile drive south of Grand Junction is a magical place, sacred to the Ute tribes that once lived here. It has history. It’s the place where the tribes met to powwow and trappers came to trade. Today this place is creating a new chapter in its history. The area is making quite a name for itself with numerous wineries, local festivals and a variety of outdoor sports. Gold-medal fishing at its best, hiking, biking and riding off-road vehicles of all kinds are only a few of the fun things to do here. And then there’s GOLF. Devil’s Thumb has become one of the premier golf courses on the western slope of Colorado. Like most sacred places, it’s been somewhat of a secret. Now the secret is out.
