Do you long to trade your SmartPhone for a fishing pole? You'll find like-minded vacationers and an angler's paradise at Conconully State Park in the region known as the Okanogan.
Fish from two lakes: the lower Conconully Reservoir, on which the park sits, and the Upper Conconully Reservoir, known as Salmon Lake. Catch smallmouth bass, rainbow trout and Kokanee, or rig up your waterskiing line, and take the kids for a spin.
After a day of fishing, swimming, watersports and horseshoes, there will be time to relax in your campsite. Let the kids play on the springy grass fields and in the play area. Pitch your tent or hook up your RV in a welcoming campground, or rent one of five charming cabins near the lower reservoir.
Conconully looks different when dressed in winter white. Though park facilities shut down, the area offers snow play options galore, including backcountry snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and dogsledding.
Whether you've come for a snow romp or a summer break, you may feel a twinge of nostalgia on the drive home, when your phone brings you back to reality.
