By Hand South Fine Craft Gallery
112 East Ponce De Leon Avenue
404-378-0118

By Hand South was founded in 1989 by Brenda Leder, a refugee from corporate down-sizing and a longtime lover and collector of American crafts. With the help of her sister, Marjorie Harris, then owner of By Hand Craft Gallery in Haddonfield, New Jersey, she opened a small gallery on a side street in historic Decatur, Georgia.

In 1995 By Hand South moved to a much larger space on the square in Decatur. Today it has more than 2,000 square feet devoted to the creative work of more than 300 American crafts people.

By Hand South has an extensive collection of functional and decorative pottery, contemporary jewelry and fine wooden boxes, as well as art glass, fiber and metal pieces. Along with these fine crafts, the gallery offers superb service to customers - including free gift wrap with that famous teal wrapping paper.

Located near the intersection of Clairemont and E. Ponce de Leon avenues in downtown Decatur, the gallery is just seven miles from downtown Atlanta and a short walk from MARTA's Decatur station. On-street metered parking is available.

By Hand South was named one of the top 10 retailers of American Craft in 2004 by Niche magazine.
