About Us:
The Annawan-Alba Township Library is located in the downtown of Annawan and serves a population of approximately 1,336 which is derived from two townships. The Annawan-Alba Township Library is located in one of the oldest buildings in the village. The building was a township building, and was formerly the site of our town jail. The old jail cells are still in place and currently house historical and genealogical materials. The Annawan-Alba Township Library is open 31 hours per week and is staffed by the Head Librarian Carol Stern, an assistant and one other staff member. The book collection is complimented by videos, periodicals, audio books, fax machine, computers with Internet access, and a copy machine.
Those who require special needs services are also provided for. Large print books are available and there is also a Talking Book program. Home delivery of books is also available for the elderly and those who are ill or handicapped. One of the library's highest priority is the children of the community. Story Hour and the Summer Reading Program are two services that are well received in Annawan. Many generous contributions from citizens, organizations and business help these programs. The library is also aided by the "Friends of the Annawan Library" who do fundraisers, supply volunteers and supplement what the library would not be able to purchase without their help.
