Wishing for compassion will not deliver change. Compassion, by itself, is not a tool for creating happiness. Nor is it an emotion. Compassion is a way of being, an enduring feature of who we are. Compassion recognizes the suffering in others and is committed to acting in order to alleviate that suffering.
Art is a powerful medium for education, because it wakes us up and reminds us of who we are and what we are here for. It courageously shows us what is taking place in our neighborhoods, and how we are often subsidizing atrocities without ever knowing about them. It is only when we are willing to face the world as it is and engage in an honest, non-violent and solution-focused dialogue, that we can begin to affect change.
Museum of Compassion...
Education is the bridge to compassion. We are in the process of creating the first museum of its kind in the world--a gallery of portraits designed to illuminate, educate and lift our animal welfare consciousness to new heights. We have painted over 5500 portraits of dogs who died alone and forgotten in U.S. shelters. With your support, we will be able to permanently display this inspiring exhibit and build a forever fund that will distribute 100% of your donations towards the salvation of shelter animals.
Science shows that we can all learn to cultivate deep roots of compassion at any age, and have it elevate the way we treat each other. The Museum of Compassion is being created to educate children and adults about the vital link between loving animals and caring people. It will illuminate the role of that link in helping us to experience greater empathy, as well as developing compassionate pathways for all beings. Let's imagine and create a world that is free from discrimination, rich in humanity and purpose driven.
